I’m a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the originator of improvised illusion, a method of performing stage illusions for a live audience without practice, preparation, or rehearsal. Sounds terrible. It’s not. Performing as The (Sort of) Amazing AJ, I’ve used my unique blend of magic, rhetoric, and storytelling to bring together something that is truly original, often unforgettable, and always hilarious.

In Grand Rapids, Michigan, I was a regular guest at the only weekly variety comedy show, Comedy Outlet Mondays, for more than three years. In 2020, I was named Grand Rapids’ Solo Comedy Performer of the Year.

When I’m in Grand Rapids, I perform at The Comedy Project, but my magic has been performed on many comedy and improv stages in Manhattan, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Maryland. No one knows why The (Sort of) Amazing AJ favors performances in places that start with the letter “m”, but I guess that’s good news for Minnesota and Maine.
